MOBILITY HUMANITIES Manuscript Submission Guidelines
Please note that manuscripts not conforming to these guidelines may be returned.
Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scope of Mobility Humanities will be reviewed.
As part of the submission process, you will be required to warrant that you are submitting your original work, that you have the right to the work, that you are submitting the work for first publication in the Journal; that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has not already been published elsewhere; and that you have obtained and can supply all necessary permissions for the reproduction of any copyright works not owned by you.
The estimated time from submission to publication, if accepted, is approximately 9 months.
1. What Do We Publish?

Before submitting your manuscript to Mobility Humanities, please ensure you have read the information here.
Manuscript Types
In preparing a paper for submission to Mobility Humanities, authors should prioritise analytical depth and critical engagement with the relevant literature over comprehensive coverage.
Mobility Humanities publishes articles, creative/visual essays, book reviews, and interviews and dialogues, introductions to special issues, interviews, and dialogues, and special issues.
- Article should be approximately 8,000 words or less. Guidelines for Articles
- Creative/Visual Essay should be no less than 3,000 words and ten images. Guidelines for Creative Visual Essay
- Book Review should be no less than 2,000 words. Guidelines for Book Review
- Introduction for Special issue, Interview, and Dialogue should be no less than 2,000 words. Guidelines for Introduction
2. Ready to Submit Your Paper? Your Ethics Checklist
Before you submit, make sure you’ve:
- Read the journal’s editorial policies, including its Publication Ethics and Research Ethics policies.
- Listed all authors on both the cover page and the online submission form.
- Cited all sources clearly and consistently in accordance with the journal’s referencing style.
- Verified all data and included any supplementary materials required by the journal.
- Disclosed any conflicts of interest.
- Obtained written permission to reproduce any figures, tables, or other materials not owned by the authors.
- Confirmed that the manuscript is not under consideration at any other journal.
Once submitted, notify all co-authors.
3. Submitting Your Manuscript
Manuscripts should be submitted with a separate Cover Page through ScholarOne Manuscripts®: https://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/mobilityhumanities
Manuscript
- All manuscripts should adhere to the MOBILITY HUMANITIES Manuscript Style Guidelines.
- All manuscripts reporting research involving human participants, including but not limited to interview-based research, must include statements addressing: informed consent, ethical oversight (e.g., IRB approval, where applicable), pseudonymisation of research participants, and measures to protect participant privacy and safety. For more information, including an example declaration, refer to the journal’s Research Ethics policy.
- Authors are encouraged to include a data availability statement, indicating whether and how the materials underlying their work can be accessed. For further guidance, including an example declaration, refer to the journal’s Research Ethics policy.
- If generative AI tools or AI-assisted services are used at any stage of manuscript preparation, authors must disclose such use in the Additional information section, including the name of the tool and how it was used. For further guidance, including an example declaration, refer to the journal’s Research Ethics policy.
Cover Page
- The title of the article, essay, introduction, or book review
- Complete contact information for author(s) (full names, affiliations and positions, and email addresses), and identification of the corresponding author
- One-paragraph abstract (limited to 200 words) and 5 to 8 keywords
- Additional information (funding and ORCID, if applicable).
- A total word count
